NFT: Markelle Fultz...what a weird story.

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 2/9/2018 2:02 pm
Sixers GM Bryan Colangelo said earlier today Fultz, the number 1 pick in last year's draft, is limited to shooting from the free throw lane & that he might not return at all this season. He's been out since October.

There's a lot of speculation that he revamped his shot & it went to hell. I've also read & heard that he's got the yips & that his confidence is shot.

What a bizarre, 76ers like story.

His shoulder is nowhere close to healthy

if he's in physical pain, it's tough to shoot
Yeah my suspicion all along is that he has the yips.

And we complain about Frank.....
Fultz got tired of hearing Lonzo get all the press about his form
GiantFilthy : 2/9/2018 2:11 pm : link
and is doing his best to get uglier.
Danny Ainge

I havent heard anywhere that it was still a physical issue. Wouldn't that be a much better excuse if it were true? Why wouldn't they shut him down if that was the case?
In the article it's quoted that me might be medically cleared and

still not returning. It sounds like a lot more than a shoulder issue.
I may not be in the know enough with these things

but I never, ever, everrrr understood how you can draft a player to play basketball that can't shoot the ball. Okay, maybe they're a great distributor, I get that, but to not be able to shoot AT ALL? How is this possible?
Bizarre

What one of the strangest stories Iíve ever seen. Heís not just. A bust, he canít/wonít even play when healthy.

He scored 23ppg last year and shot 41% from 3.

Plenty of very good NBA players couldn't shoot a lick. Rajon Rondo comes to mind. Awful, awful shooter.
Fultz

was a pure scorer coming out..not really seen as a shooter even though he shot a good percentage from 3. He was streaky from 3 but was a great scorer/mid range type guy.
I'm not gonna write this guy off
bceagle05 : 2/9/2018 3:14 pm : link
but thank God the Sixers have missed on a couple of these top picks. They could have Simmons, Embiid, KP and Tatum in their starting lineup.
Be foolish to write him off.

But a really weird story. It sounds more mental than physical now.
There have been rumors that Fultz injured his shoulder on a BMX bike..
BurberryManning : 2/9/2018 4:36 pm : link
Apparently he has always enjoyed recreational biking and the scapular imbalance injury is consistent with flying over the handlebars. The rumor was that the team is doing well by Fultz in not making a big public stink about the injury because its clearly embarrassing and could rub against some verbiage in his contract. It seems like a stretch but so does the notion that he simply lost his shooting form overnight. Fultz had a nice stroke as recently as summer league and then dropped his release point about a foot.

That being said, Fultzí shot has looked better as of late from the practice clips were privy to. Iím strangely not too worried about him.
Was he a Sam Heinke pick?

No, he was a Colangelo pick. He was also the consensus top prospect so I can't fault Colangelo, and believe me I would love to.
